ordinary sticker plus NFC sticker, attached to a notebook

NFC Sticker Demo Tutorial

A few months ago I was excited to program my first NFC sticker (aka NFC tag) and now I’m revisiting this topic by doing an NFC sticker demo tutorial, to show how quick and easy they are to set up.

I’ll upload a video here shortly, but in the meantime here is the step-by-step photo & text tutorial below.

Basically I’ll be showing how to take a humble, ordinary sticker…

…then add an NFC (Near Field Communication) sticker to the back of it…

…to turn the original sticker into a promotional object that you can attach to many different types of object…

…which will then take people straight to the website you choose, when they pass their phone over the sticker:

So, here are the steps:

0) Decide what you’re going to stick the sticker on, to turn it into your promotional object (I’m just using my normal “LaserSister.com” stickers, which have my business logo on them).

1) Obtain some NFC stickers. (I got mine like these from Amazon, but otherwise just search for phrases like “blank NFC stickers” and you should find plenty to choose from!)

2) Load an NFC-programming app onto your phone. (I’m currently using the NFC Tools app)

3) Open the app. As I said, I’m currently using NFC Tools, so these are the steps I go through at the moment:

4) Approach an NFC Tag – i.e. move your phone over the tag until the app recognises the tag. (If it doesn’t recognise it, you may need to check your settings, to see if you need to switch on “NFC and contactless payments”).

5) Along the top, select the ‘Write’ tab.

5) Tap “Add a record”

6) Tap “URL / URI”

7) Select either http or https from the dropdown list, then type in the web address you want to direct people to, when they pass their phone over your tag/sticker

8) Tap “OK”

9) Tap “Write”. A message will appear on the phone’s screen saying “Approach an NFC tag”. Once your phone gets close to the tag/sticker, you should then see a message saying “Done”

…and that’s it!

Sounds simple and fast, but how was it for you? Did you follow the NFC sticker demo tutorial? Did it work? What happened? What did you use the sticker/s for? Let me know in the comments section below!
