My First Successful Project With A UV Printer

Yay – I’ve achieved my first successful project with the eufyMake E1 UV printer. I have now had the UV printer for nearly two weeks, and it’s still half scary and half FANTASTIC. Scary because there seem to be a lot of things that can go wrong with these machines. Things such as (1) the ink being temperamental and having a use-by date because it settles if you don’t use it, and (2) the print heads are notorious for stopping working with no warning (eek!)

…but fantastic because you can make dimensional/textured prints with it. Things like this:

Not sure if the texture shows up very well here…

It’s not very obvious in these photos that the ink builds up to create raised textures and features. For example, the dog’s nose really stands out, and makes it look realistic. (I might try to add a video here later, to demonstrate what I mean.)

Overall I’m incredibly pleased with this piece. I was sent a photo of a real dog:

Then I asked ChatGPT to turn it into a portrait:

…and then the Anker eufyMake software added the dimensionality to the image so that the UV printer would know how to build up layers to make the final image:

I am so looking forward to experimenting more with this machine!
