Forty days into this project (cutting a design a day for 100 days, from the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book)!
It’s a bit lopsided up close, but is one of those that felt very satisfying to cut, and where I don’t mind the little idiosyncrasies too much because they just show that it’s hand-cut instead of laser-cut:
Day 39 of this project (cutting a design a day for 100 days, from the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book).
No twirly moustache and evil grin today (unlike yesterday):
Not toooo bad, and isn’t too lumpy considering how close up this image is:
Back on track, and here is my current project (cutting a design a day for 100 days, from the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book).
Is it just me, or does this one look like a creepy villain’s face (maybe with devil’s horns?), complete with twirly moustaches?
Waaaah – I went away over the weekend to a writers’ conference, and although I remembered to take my scalpel and scissors and paper, I forgot to take my phone or camera, so couldn’t upload photos of the latest pieces in my current project (cutting a design a day for 100 days, from the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book).
So a little belatedly, here are cuts 35 and 36, plus 37:
I actually love this one! It’s very tricky to cut, but very satisfying.
This one’s OK. It’s a bit more unusual in the design:
…and I like this one, too:
I can’t believe I’m over a third of the way through my current project (cutting a design a day for 100 days, from the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book).
Day 33 of this project based on the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book. Wow – I’ve done more than a month’s worth of cuttings already!
I actually 100% like this one! It’s quite an elegant-looking Art Nouveau style design, and I can see myself incorporating this into papercuts in the future.
Day 32 of this project based on the “922 Decorative Vector Ornaments” book. Wow – I’ve done more than a month’s worth of cuttings already!
A delicate little leaf piece:
Actually, even though the jagged bits sort of leap out at me (especially on that end curve bit), I still like this piece. Because I’ve realised that if I made it with the laser cutter then yeah, it would have been perfectly smooth, but it’s actually the little mistakes and jagged bits that show that a real live human being has created this piece:

This one – as with most of them – needs a bit of tidying up:
…especially when you see it up close:
